Robert Goulet, R.I.P.

By Mitchell

Some might remember him as the star of "Bob Goulet's Cajun Christmas;" to others he was "Mr. G" on ESPN's promotions for college basketball; and those us of an age will recall his muffing the lines to the National Anthem at the Clay-Liston title fight in 1965. (An incident he always handled graciously and with humor, pleading that he was, after all, from Canada; true enough, although he was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts.)

But Robert Goulet was also a star on Broadway, a frequent guest of Sullivan and Paar and Carson, a star of countless TV specials, and an unforgettable Lancelot in his most famous musical, Camelot. It was during the 60s that he became a familiar face to millions, and it is that image that I chose to go with in remembering him, in the week that he died of pulmonary fibrosis at age 73 while awaiting a lung transplant.

He had a smooth voice, a winning presence, an engaging personality. Many of his best moments, as in Scrooged and the ESPN commercials, came when he was spoofing himself. He was always a delight to see and listen to, whether voicing Jaune-Tom in the cartoon Gay Purr-ee, or himself in The Simpsons. He was the kind of star that doesn't seem to be around anymore, and the entertainment business is the poorer for it.

In If Ever I Would Leave You, his most famous song from Camelot, he sang to Guinevere,

But if I'd ever leave you,
It couldn't be in autumn.
How I'd leave in autumn I never will know....

Neither do we.

Britney Spears’ Halloween Night

Posted by febry on 5:04 PM

The singer, 25, dressed as a sexy tiger as she hit Heidi Klum’s Halloween bash at L.A.’s Green Door lounge with cousin Alli Sims.

The eye-popping costume echoes Spears’ 2006 obsession with the animal when she posted this rant on her web site:

“I’m mesmerized by tigers. Their eyes, their stripes, their constant quest for survival. They almost have a sense of mysteriousness about them. They pull you in and make it difficult to look away. They make you wonder what is behind their gaze.”

Spears didn’t get that deep at Klum’s party. She and Sims showed up late around 12:45 a.m.

“She was flirting with a couple of the guys at the table, sitting with her legs crossed towards one, touching his shoulder as they laughed and chatted,” a witness says. “She was loving the attention from the crowd.”

After chatting with Klum for about 15 minutes, Spears and Sims (who had a camera clung to her neck and was overheard saying she had dressed as “the paparazzi”) left a little after 2 a.m.

They then hit a house party, where Spears emerged wearing a sombrero.

The Order That Changed Everything for Brit

Posted by febry on 5:00 PM

TMZ has obtained another document in the Brit/K-Fed custody war, and we turned up the order that may have changed everything.

It was signed on September 28, 2007 by L.A. County Court Commissioner Scott Gordon. We know Gordon signed it after he heard evidence that Britney might have been driving without a valid license. The order, scribbled in handwriting, reads, "At all times, the minor children shall be transferred in a properly insured and registered vehicle, which shall be driven only by a properly insured driver who has a current and valid driver's license. In all vehicles, the minor children shall be restrained in an age/weight appropriate child safety restraint."

The order was signed the same day -- a Friday. That following Sunday, TMZ got a shot of Britney driving her kids in Malibu -- without a valid California license. The next day, K-Fed's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, went into court and, citing the TMZ video, moved to suspend Brit's custody rights. The judge granted the request. For Britney, it was downhill from there.
